Chase's Diner in Chandler turned 20 this year, and celebrated with three days of festivities in late October.
Nancy and Skip Chase, who have lived in Chandler for years, own the diner, which is near Warner and Alma School Roads. They serve three meals a day—breakfast, lunch, and diner—in a diner decorated in the classic style of the 1950s. The restaurant has a black-and-white tile floor, a counter with red stools, and red booths.
The first day of the festival featured a ‘Friendor Fair’, a family-friendly event featuring Hickman's Family Farms' ‘Funky Chicken’. Representatives from Dr. Pepper, the Arizona Restaurant Association, and Chandler were also on hand.
The second day was ‘Giveaway Day’, when the first 50 people in the doors—which opened at 6:00 am—received a gift card they could redeem for a stack of buttermilk pancakes. Other gifts included more gift cards and T-Shirts, as well as a flat-screen TV. The grand prize winner got a year's worth of free pancakes.
The third and final day was ‘Give Back Day’. Patrons got to play with kittens and puppies from the shelter, while the diner collected donations for the facility. It matched all the donations made on the day, and will continue to collect money for the shelter until the end of the month.
