After 10 years, a building on Chandler's south side that has been vacant since 2007 finally opened as a Blue 32.
The sports bar is fourth in Arizona: there are two in Gilbert and one in Scottsdale. Steve Conrad and Ken Rea are co-owners of the business, and assure their customers they want to be a different kind of sports bar.
Instead of premade fried foods, almost everything is made in-house, and from scratch, as far as possible. Customers can enjoy bar food, as well as steaks, seafood, and specialties like Monte Cristo sandwiches. They also offer one of Conrad's favorites, the Texas Hot Burger, a hamburger with mayo, tomato, bacon, lettuce, and jalapenos, with tabasco sauce on top.
Construction on the building began a decade ago, but the recession brought things to a halt, and it was left unfinished. A charter school and an Alamo Drafthouse moved in nearby, but the building remained empty. Glimcher Realty Trust, a real-estate investor based in Ohio, built it, expecting it would become a restaurant or bank, but plans fell through until Town West Design Developer of Tucson bought it in 2015. Town West leased it to Blue 32 in 2016, and the opened, finally, in February, 2017.
