Summer heat in Arizona can soar into three digits, and one of the most enjoyable ways to cool off is at one of the spray and splash pads found throughout Chandler. According to a May 20, 2015 news item, several such play areas are now open.
Chuparosa Park is open daily from 9 am to 7 pm through August, and 10:00 am to 6:00 pm in September and October. The park, at 2400 South Dobson Road, closes for the year November 1. Chuparosa features ground spray, spray rings, and a shower shaped like a candy cane.
The Desert Breeze Park is located at 660 North Desert Breeze Boulevard, and Espee Park is on Knox Road. Both of these venues, like Chuparosa, are open daily from May through October; May through August they operate 9 am to 7 pm; in September and October, they shorten their hours to 10 am to 6 pm, and shut down for the season November 1. Desert Breeze offers ground sprays and spray animals, while Espee Park has a water tower.
The last venue is the Mesquite Groves Aquatic Center which charges admission by age, and is open from April 27 to September 5, with hours varying. Mesquite Groves offers a water playground, zero-depth area, and a water structure, among other features.
Chandler officials might consider work with a flyer printing company on a mailer for residents that consolidates information about all the spray parks.
