Vaughan Tweet-Up a success
On November 17, several people showed up for the first ever Vaughan Tweet-Up. The event which was arranged by The Citizen and Vaughan Mompreneurs founder Patricia Curto was held at Alice Fazooli’s Restaurant.
This free event presented 22 prizes which were donated by local businesses and complimentary appetizers. A real-time Twitter feed was broadcast on the wall throughout the night. Those in attendance all belonged to the same Twitter group who took the next step in meeting those they follow and those who follow them by arranging for the face-to-face meeting. Those who attended discussed their lives, their blogs and their websites and probably forged friendships that will continue.
A lot of the businesses who donated gifts were also in attendance at the event. Twitter has become an important part of business where customers and potential customers can be quickly notified of sales, services and new products. It, along with Facebook and LinkedIn, is quickly becoming an essential venue to pursue. While in the past Vaughan-area companies sometimes relied on flyer printing services to help them get the word out, today they also need to get the word out electronically.
Going the further step in arrange social get-togethers is a good way to further a relationship between a business and a customer; it will most likely also lead to word of mouth advertising. Donating prizes is also a way to spread the word about your business and will almost guarantee that even more people will show up for the next Tweet-up event.
