Vaughan festival to celebrate maple syrup

The Kortright Conservation Centre will be bringing its annual Sugarbush Maple Syrup Festival back to Vaughan this March, celebrating one of Canada’s favourite locally grown treats.

The festival will comprise a number of evening events, with visitors invited to walk through the forest by lantern light and see how maple syrup is made, tap a log themselves, and visit the historic “sugar shack”. Participants will be able to take home maple-flavoured treats from the centre’s café and sit by the campfire. On weekends during the daytime, there will be wagon rides around the woods and strolling entertainment such as buskers.

The centre is also open on weekdays during the festival for school trips, as well as on March Break, providing educational lessons on maple syrup harvesting and production. The festival will stretch into April, celebrating the coming of spring with events such as a pancake breakfast. Conservation areas often use special events like this as well as tools like brochure printing to better connect with the surrounding area.

Last year’s festival welcomed more than 40,000 visitors, and this year is looking to be a similar success, with a full line-up of entertainers and events to be announced in the lead-up to the event.

The 2025 Sugarbush Maple Syrup Festival will take place at the Kortright Conservation Area on select dates between March 8 and April 6.
