Ball hockey tournament to hit streets of Vaughan
The Maple Leaf Concrete Cup Street Hockey Tournament will be held in Vaughan this April, with hundreds of players taking part in the casual version of Canada’s national sport.
The tournament will see teams of up to 9 square off in 25-minute games of 4-on-4 hockey with running clocks. Each game will be hosted in a parking lot environment, with dozens of games happening simultaneously. There will be 22 divisions offered for different skill levels and ages, with adult divisions based on skill and gender taking place on the Saturday and youth categories the following day. Each team is guaranteed at least 3 games in their division, and will receive commemorative T-shirts, with the winners of each division getting championship hoodies and a Maple Leaf Championship Cup trophy. Athletic events often use promotional products like this to help participants commemorate the occasion.
The event will also be raising money for local sporting charities, including Home Ice Hockey, Leafs House, MLSE Foundation, and Sticks & Sneakers. Players must bring their own sticks, shoes, and goalie equipment, as well as same-coloured shirts or jerseys. The tournament is overseen by the Ontario Ball Hockey Association, with the goal of encouraging participation at all ages for the childhood favourite.
The 2025 Maple Leaf Concrete Cup Street Hockey Tournament will take place on April 5 and 6 at Assembly Park in Vaughan.
