Cycling charity ride to pass through Vaughan

For the 18th year running, the Giro Cycling Fundraiser will take place in Vaughan this May, and is looking to raise money for local causes.

Participants in the race will ride through the countryside of Vaughan as well as Kleinberg and King City, choosing between 25, 60, and 100-kilometre distances. It won’t be all hard work, however, as there will be rest stops along the way with gourmet Italian food and refreshments. The ride is designed to coincide with the final stage of the prestigious Giro d’Italia road race, and to tap into Vaughan’s strong Italian-Canadian community. Vaughan is also a hub of cycling, home to Canada’s national velodrome and cycling training centre.

Funds raised by racers will go towards Villa Charities, which helps support senior care, youth services, scholarships, and cultural programming promoting Italian cultural heritage. Riders can join together in charity teams, while friends and family can support riders by sponsoring them or donating to their total. Charity races like this often use methods like banner printing and musical performances to help create a memorable finishing-line experience. Discount rates will be available for riders under 18, and all riders will receive an official participation gift.

The 2025 Giro Cycling Fundraiser will take place on the morning of May 25, with the ride beginning and ending at the Veneto Centre in Woodbridge, Vaughan.
