Vaughan film fest to focus on Italian fare
The Italian Contemporary Film Festival will return to Vaughan theatres this July, featuring a sextet of recent movies that exemplify la dolce vita.
The annual event is hosted in partnership with the Embassy and Consulate General of Italy in Canada as well as the Istituto Italiano di Cultura organization. Screenings will include film industry guests and activities designed to highlight the films’ contexts such as question-and-answer panels. The film line-up includes dramatic pictures like A Muso Duro, a docudrama about the Paralympic movement, and L’Arminuta, as well as more comedic fare such as La Seconda Chance, described as “rediscovering family: a second chance for connection.”
The ICFF is a spin-off of the IncluCivity Festival, which presents international films in an outdoor setting of Toronto’s Distillery District. This year’s edition of IncluCivity will feature a tribute to legendary Italian director Federico Fellini, the latest film from director Saverio Costanza and appearances from actor and director Rocco Papaleo, who will receive the ICFF Lifetime Achievement Award. Film festivals such as this often use tools such as flyer printing and special events to attract cinema lovers from nearby areas like Vaughan and Richmond Hill.
The 2024 Italian Contemporary Film Festival will take place on select dates at the Cineplex Cinema Vaughan between June 28 and July 18. The 2024 IncluCivity Festival runs from June 27 to July 21 at Toronto’s Distillery Historic District.
