As another season wraps up, beginner beekeepers across Ontario will be putting their hives to bed for the winter, and a Vaughan workshop may help make the process simpler for those who take part.
The Kortright Centre for Conservation will be running a class that will introduce ways an apiarist can protect their hives through the winter weather. It will be hands-on, and anyone who requires a mobility device or other accommodation has been asked to get in touch with the organizers at least seven days in advance.
The facilitator for the workshop will discuss various techniques such as hive wrapping and merging, and they will also review different challenges that a beekeeper may face. It is designed for the beekeeper who is just starting out, and it will include both classroom and in-the-field modules. The latter will take place in the venue’s bee yard, and jackets and veils can be supplied upon request.
Beekeeping and other nature-based hobbies can be part of living a more sustainable lifestyle. A brochure printing company will be happy to provide workshop organizers with Copies of handouts to distribute that include full-colour diagrams, photos and other graphics.
Vaughan’s apiarists who are just getting their feet wet are welcome to sign on for this learning opportunity set for October 24. Tickets are $65.00 each, plus HST.Get a Free Quote for Copies
