What's Happening in Vaughan, ON…

Vaughan to become Culture Days hub

Ontario will be holding its annual Culture Days celebration this fall, and this year Vaughan has been selected to be a hub city for the multifaceted event.

The province of Ontario selected Vaughan alongside 12 other municipalities to be the hubs of its celebrations of Ontario’s diverse culture. There will be events hosted by the city as well as other cultural organizations throughout the surrounding area. The series will kick off with a Food and Culture Festival, with food trucks and vendors representing many different cuisines, on-stage entertainment, and free arts and culture vendors. Public libraries in Vaughan will also be participating through events such as “Family Adventures: Renaissance Faire” and “Italian Storytime.”

There will be open workshops for art forms ranging from theatre and swing dance to henna tattoos and traditional painting. Culture Days will also include Doors Open Vaughan, with many of the city’s historic buildings and heritage centres opening their doors for interested visitors. There will also be a focus on accessible sports, with a Special Olympics version of the Vaughan Bocce Rollers and the Adaptive Games Extravaganza.

Festivals like this help to showcase everything from traditional musical styles to graphic design and digital installation. The Culture Days organization wrote that it had selected Vaughan as a hub because:

“Vaughan is a creative urban city that uniquely integrates art into its public realm, making art accessible to all.”

The 2024 Culture Days festival will take place throughout Vaughan from September 20 to October 13.
