The competition features under-17 and under-15 competitions in both boys’ and girls’ divisions. Each division will have eight club teams representing Ontario, Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia, including the youth affiliates of Vaughan SC Azzuri and Woodbridge SC. Each team will play three group games before advancing to the medal and ranking phase to crown a champion in each division.
This will also be a youth showcase for the officials, as participants from Canada Soccer’s Elite Referee Development Program will work alongside officials from Ontario Soccer to gain experience. The three pitches used during the competition were personally inspected and approved by federation officials.
It will be just the second edition of the PDP Championship, following the inaugural edition hosted last year in Edmonton, Alberta. Youth sports events like these often use methods like banner printing and trophies to help celebrate winners as well as help build atmosphere and prestige. The event’s website states that it:
“features a network of standards-based programs that represent high-level amateur youth soccer in Canada.”
The 2025 Canada Soccer Player-Development Program Championship will take place at the Zanchin Automotive Soccer Centre and Vaughan Grove Sports Park in Vaughan from August 27 to 30.
