Turkey Trot to raise money for scholarships
An event offers an opportunity for the local community in Wisconsin to come together for a fun, active event while supporting a meaningful cause.
The Brookfield Turkey Trot 5K will kick off at 9 AM with a 5K run, then the kids’ 1K fun run will begin at 10:15 AM. Runners must arrive early for registration and shirt and bib pick-up between 8:00 AM and 8:45 AM. The award ceremony and participant raffle will wrap things up at 10:15 AM.
The race has something for everyone, as it is open to runners and walkers regardless of their age group. Every person who registers is guaranteed a long-sleeve, moisture-wicking shirt. Size selections are limited to those register before November 1, while onsite registrants cannot be guaranteed a shirt in their size. Participants will be given post-run refreshments and are advised to keep their bib numbers for the raffle. Small items such as promotional pens are sometimes used as prizes at athletic events.
At the end of the 5K event, the top three male and female runners in each age category will get awards. Proceeds from the Brookfield Turkey Trot 5K will support the Johnson Family Scholarship Program, which provides scholarships to high school students nationwide. Since its establishment in 2014, a total number of 19 scholarships have been given away with this scheme.
The 7th Annual Brookfield Turkey Trot 5K, presented by the Kelly Johnson Foundation, is scheduled for November 30, at Fox Brook Park in Brookfield near Menomonee Falls.
