Residents of Menomonee Falls can stay warm this winter by taking part in an upcoming run.
The Flannel 5K and 10K are coming up in Menomonee Falls, featuring races, a ruck option, a kids’ run, and a walk. The race will be chip-timed, and the route is over flat roads in Menomonee Park. People are encouraged to dress up in their coziest flannel, whatever it may be, and get outside.
The 10K, 5K, and walk all start at 9.00 am, and the fee for all three races is $37.50. The kids’ run is free and begins at 8.45 am. Finishers will receive woodles (wooden prizes). New this year is a ruck race, which is also $37.50 and starts at 9.00 am. Rucking involves running or walking while carrying a weighted backpack, known as a rucksack. Rucking is a military term and refers to the training undergone by personnel, who carry heavy weights for long distances. The ruck race will be timed but is not competitive, so there will be no woodles awarded.
The course uses the roads in Menomonee Park where one lap is 5K, and two laps are just short of 10K. The route is almost entirely flat with some small hills, and there will be aid stations available – one at the finish and one on the course.
The Flannel Run is on Saturday, February 14, and events like this often benefit when organizers use banner printing to create highly visible course markers.
