Key Menomonee Falls roads reopen
Following culverts getting washed away during August's intense flooding, a key Menomonee Falls route has reopened; however, repairs at another location will need a few more months.
After emergency repairs on broken culverts, the village has opened sections of Lilly Road to traffic. However, as the state gets ready for repair, the bridge located on Campbell Drive is still blocked.
Tom Corozza is a resident of Lilly Road who stands to benefit greatly from the repairs and reopening. He commented on the changes:
The water coming from the overflowing culvert encircled Corozza as he worked to rebuild his flood-damaged house. Lilly Road was still blocked at two points where the culverts were demolished when the water subsided. Safety signage can be purchased from companies that provide printing services.
Since there are so few north-south connections in the neighborhood, Mark Fitzgerald, the Menomonee Falls Village Manager stated that road repair was a top concern. The community was able to finish the road repairs in only two months by concurrently designing and constructing replacement culverts thanks to an emergency proclamation.
It will take a bit longer to restore the Campbell Drive bridge, Fitzgerald said.

"The rock, the asphalt is all new. The culvert is brand new. I had 17 and a half inches of backup sewer. It was a little inconvenient."
