Pick n Save gas stations planned

The Menomonee Falls Plan Commission held a meeting on October 3, where zoning for a gas station was discussed.

At the meeting, Roundy's Supermarket Inc. asked the commission to change its permit, which has specific conditions attached to it. The company wants to add a gas station at the N77-W14435 Appleton Avenue Pick n' Save location. The property would have to be zoned differently to build a gas station.

A proposal recommended a building totaling 198 square feet with a canopy. It would have five gas pumps.

Before the Pick n' Save was built, there was a Kmart at the location. After that, a Sears Grand Store was built before closing in March of 2009. That December, the village board created a permit for conditional use that demolished the edifice and built the Pick n' Save.

The village suggested getting the opinion of the public through a hearing on the gas station. Kroger owns Pick n' Save, so there will likely be more gas stations at the company’s locations in the future.

According to Roundy's Supermarkets Inc.'s communications and public affairs vice president, James J. Hyland, gas stations are popular with Kroger. He hopes to create a fuel program in some Wisconsin locations.

Announcing and marketing new gas stations and problems is a process that can benefit from direct marketing services.
