People will get the chance to learn how to play a little-known board game.

The Menomonee Falls Public Library will host an instructional event for those interested in learning Mahjong, a traditional Chinese tile game often likened to Rummy, another popular card game. Instructor Becky Thompson will lead the session, teaching both the rules and strategy of the game. Participants will be divided into two groups of four, with Mahjong sets provided for use during the event. This event offers an opportunity for both beginners and those with some familiarity with Mahjong to learn the game in an engaging and supportive environment.

The session will take place on the second floor of the Menomonee Falls Public Library in the Magazine Area. Guests can access the Magazine Area by entering the Library through the automatic doors at the main entrance. Upon entry, visitors should pass the new Books and veer right to reach either the elevator or stairs. The Magazine Area is located on the second floor, behind the entry point to the Teen Space. Printing services could be used to produce pamphlets with instructions.

With its roots in Chinese culture, Mahjong has gained widespread popularity worldwide as a social and strategic game. Participants will gain hands-on experience and guidance in understanding the intricacies of the game while enjoying the Library's welcoming atmosphere.

The event is scheduled for Wednesday, January 8, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at The Menomonee Falls Public Library.
