What's Happening in Germantown, WI…

Local junior becomes viral star

A video of Menomonee Falls High School Julius Davis recently went viral.

The junior ran 67 yards for a touchdown against West Allis Hale, leading the Twitter account of Sports Illustrated to tweet about it. MaxPreps named it as the top high school football video of the week, then Yahoo! Sports asked Davis for permission to use the video as well. Soon, everyone in the town and many people across the nation knew who he was.

Davis scored three other touchdowns during the Greater Metro Conference game in late August, which the team won 49-7. Davis said he got an idea to hurdle over a tackler and focused on getting further down the field. After jumping over one player, he was able to shake off three more and make it to the goal line.

In the past two games, Davis had been responsible for seven touchdowns, and was was a star player late in the season last year once he started playing in the games. There was a senior playing in front of him and he suffered a hip injury in his freshman years, so he had not seen much of the field until then.

Next year, college football scouts will be looking for star players about to graduate to recruit them for teams. Schools and families of high-achieving sportspeople could have presentation folders sent to universities detailing their academic and athletic records.
