What's Happening in Germantown, WI…

Food company buys plant in the Falls

A Menomonee Falls building totaling 83,000 square feet has been bought by First Choice Ingredients as part of the company's growth.

With the new plant set to open at the beginning of next year, First Choice predicts that within the next 18 months, its staff will increase by about one third. First Choice will now have three plants in the state producing on a large scale, but the new location will be able to process more than 10 million pounds of product each year.

Avoca Bioprocessing owned and used the N92 W14224 Anthony Avenue building before selling it to First Choice for $2m, which was 75% of its assessed value according to 2015 Waukesha County tax records. First Choice will build five laboratories to aid its custom flavor department.

First Choice Ingredients is headquartered in Germantown and uses reaction and fermentation to create consolidated milk products. It has 110 employees and, according to its president, Jim Pekar, the company has seen a healthy yearly growth over the last decade. The Menomonee Falls location will not only allow the company to increase production, but open new doors too. Customers both nationally and internationally are familiar with Wisconsin's dairy reputation, Pekar says.

A company with experience in graphic design could help First Choice Ingredients to create labels for its new flavors.
