Woodinville turns its attention to tea

A very sophisticated festival has been planned for Woodinville.

The 2024 Cascadia Tea Festival will be held at Brightwater Center, where tea aficionados will have a chance to taste various brews, speak with tea vendors, and purchase tea ware.

There are two components to the event - tea sampling and workshops. The two will be held in different locations. The workshops will be held before the major tastings, from 10.00 am until 1.00 pm, in the Conservation Classroom.

Most of the tastings are scheduled for the Brightwater Center Environmental Education & Community Center, from 11.00 am until 6.00 pm, where 13 vendors will be serving tea. Organizers say attendees should bring their own cup and a snack. Paper cups will be available, and some vendors will have china cups for sale. Snacks will also be available from La Liath Bakery, but people may bring their own food if they prefer.

Finally, attendees are encouraged to embrace what could be a somewhat chaotic event. It can be crowded, and people will be moving around, sampling tea at booths or at tables, and doing crafts. Organizers of this type of event will often work with a printing company that uses brochure printing to create a pamphlet explaining the subject.

The Tea Festival is scheduled for April 20. There is no charge for admission, which is on a pay-what-you-can basis. The Brightwater Education Center is at 22505 WA-9.
