What's Happening in Woodinville, WA…

Woodinville shop to host author signing

Steampunk fans, mystery fans, and book lovers in general should mark their calendars for an upcoming event.

Writer Carlos Bayne will be at The Comic Stop Woodinville to sign copies of his new book, “The Murder of Crowe,” which has the subtitle, “A Steampunk Whodunnit.” The story is set in Darien, Georgia, in 1881, and follows Archibald McNittle and Junius Price, who are detectives with the famous Pinkerton agency, as they try to solve Mika Crowe's murder. The detectives discover that the victim is a complex character and solving the case is anything but straightforward.

The word “steampunk” refers to a science fantasy or science fiction sub-genre whose aesthetic is usually inspired by steam-driven machinery. Steampunk novels are frequently set in a location that has been given an alternative history, such as the American West or Victorian Britain, where steam remains the main power source. Alternatively, the world could be a fantasy setting where steam power is still used. The title of the book is a clever play on the collective noun for crows, which is a “murder of crows.”

The Comic Stop is on NE 175th Street. Mr. Bayne will be there on January 11, from 12.00 pm until 2.00 pm. People will be able to have their books signed at the event. Mr. Bayne plans to create an additional version of the story in video format. Flyer printing is often used to promote events like this.
