What's Happening in Woodinville, WA…

Woodinville area event tackles serious theme with humor

A fundraiser is coming to Kenmore, a few miles from Woodinville.

It will soon be time for the “Family Jewels Kenmore Ball Crawl,” an event that raises funds to fight testicular cancer. The event takes place at Kenmore's Brew Row, between 7204 and 7324 NE 175th Street in Kenmore.

Cairn Brewing, 192 Brewing Co.., and 9 Yard Brewery will all be offering taster trays for participants. Each brewery will curate its beers individually, just for this fundraiser. In addition, food will be available from the kitchen at 192, or the food truck featured by Cairn Brewing. Since the breweries are all located in the same vicinity, there is no need to run to take part. Organizers note that participants can crawl, roll, or walk, whichever they prefer, as long as they take part.

The Family Jewels Foundation is the beneficiary of the Ball Crawl. The Foundation, located in Bothell, aims to eradicate testicular cancer. The disease has a high cure rate when it is caught early, but embarrassment may make young men reluctant to see a doctor. The Foundation uses humor to overcome shyness, and help save lives.

Early birds will save $5 on their registration, as it is only $30 until the day of the crawl. On-site registration is $35. The crawl is set for November 21, from 1:00pm until 5:00pm. Flyer printing is sometimes used to provide guides to participants at events like this.
