An upcoming run promises to be both unusual and fun.
The annual Summer Glow Run is returning to Woodinville, and is open to everyone, from those who intend to run the distance to those who plan to jog it, walk it, or cover it while pushing a stroller. Canine family members are welcome to attend.
Glow runs are special because they take place in the evening, or indoors. People who organize glow runs indoors may use neon, glitter balls, and other illumination, but turn off the main lights so most of the run takes place in very dim conditions. In Woodinville, the run will begin in the evening, when most runs take place early in the day. The timing of the run adds to the fun and excitement of being outdoors on a warm summer night.
The race is a 5K that begins at 7.00 pm and ends at 10.00 pm, with both the start and finish lines at Woodin Creek Village, located at 17255 135th Avenue NE. This year’s beneficiary is the Woodinville Teens Art Alliance.
The race is June 28. The fee for early birds who register by June 10 is $35 for those 16 and older, and $20 for those 15 and under. After that, the fees are $40 and $20. Registration includes a swag bag, finishers medal, and race T-shirt (for those who register before June 10). Organizers who plan events like this often use banner printing to create course signage.
