Local artist to perform swimmingly in Woodinville
A local artist will perform live for Woodinville audiences soon, and the show promises to go swimmingly.
Singer/songwriter Doug Rusk is a guitarist and solo artist. A Woodinville resident, he has an unusual background for a professional musician, as he was a swimming coach for over 20 years, and had no experience in public performance until 2013. At that time, while he continued coaching, he also began performing, appearing once or twice a week at music gigs and open mic nights. From his beginnings in the Woodinville scene, he has created a strong local following, and become an established member of the city’s music community.
Rusk has become known for his songwriting ability, his guitar skills, his voice, and his overall showmanship. He finally stopped coaching in 2021 to focus on songwriting and performing full time.
Over the course of his career, he has composed hundreds of songs, and played cover versions of songs from a range of artists. During the lockdown, Doug performed a live “Happy Hour Show” weekly on Facebook, and in 2020, he uploaded two of his songs to YouTube, and had the satisfaction of seeing them get hundreds of views within a few days.
Doug Rusk will be at the Goose Ridge Estate Winery Tasting Room on March 1. People can enjoy cider, wine, or the Cocktail of the Month while they appreciate Rusk’s artistry. When events like this are scheduled, organizers will frequently work with poster printing experts to create advertising.
