Learn about restorative farming in Woodinville

A farm in Woodinville is giving people the chance to learn about regenerative practices that enhance the health of farms across the nation.

The Farm Steward Saturday will provide participants with the opportunity to work with knowledgeable staff members from 21 Acres Farm. The experts and volunteers will join together to tackle projects on seasonal restoration, which will help build climate resilience and soil health.

Working at the farm supports food systems in the local area in various ways. It decreases stormwater runoff, helps build habitat for insects, birds, and animals, increases the productivity of the farm, and stores carbon.

People who come to the event will be bed building, mulching, weeding, transplanting, seeding, and more. All the tools required will be provided, and it’s not necessary for volunteers to have any farm experience.

The farm recommends wearing shoes with closed toes, and for volunteers to be prepared for the rain with rubber boots and raincoats. They also suggest layered clothing, and comfortable, loose-fitting items that visitors don’t mind getting dirty. Volunteers should remember to bring snacks and water.

The Farm Stewardship event takes place on November 18, from 10.00 am until 12.30 pm, at 21 Acres Center for Local Food and Sustainable Living. This can be found at 13701 NE 171st Street in Woodinville. Event organizers often work with brochure printing to create pamphlets with mission statements.
