What's Happening in Woodinville, WA…

Falcon Football Camp a success

For the 14th year, Coach Wayne Maxwell has successfully run the Falcon Football Camp in Woodinville, which gives the city's young people a chance to learn the fundamentals of the game as they interact with former, as well as current, players.

This year, Michael Roth spoke to the younger kids. Roth was formerly a wide receiver for the Falcons, and is currently starting his sophomore year at Cal State San Luis Obispo. Roth talked about his high school experiences and the lessons he had learned.

Maxwell described Roth's message as being one of learning to change his attitude and work hard. He said that during high school, Roth came to realize that he was not a good player, he would not be able to get representation, and that his mindset was poor. He ended up working even harder, changed his attitude toward the game, and had a successful season as a junior, followed by a great senior year.

Maxwell said that for someone like Roth, who has been part of the program and is now performing well at his university, to come back and talk to current camp attendees was great fun. Maxwell says it also illustrates how strong a community Woodinville is.

Woodinville's season begins at 7:00 pm on August 31 at Pop Keeney Stadium. Organizers of events like this can use flyer printing to spread the word.
