As Woodinville City Council seeks to employ a city manager on a permanent basis, it has selected Issaquah-based Prothman as the company tasked with finding the right candidate.
Prothman, which specializes in seeking out executives to fill roles, won the contract ahead of Colin Baenziger & Associates. According to council member Susan Boundy-Sanders, Prothman got the nod because it was a local company rather than a national one. In his proposal, company president Greg Prothman drew attention to his connections with candidates throughout Washington.
In addition, Prothman already has experience in this particular task, having run a 2007 search process from which Rich Leahy was hired as Woodinville’s last city manager.
Mr. Prothman estimates that the position will attract around 45 applicants. From this, he will select and interview 12 to 14 of them. After meeting and perhaps collecting traditional and digital Business Cards from the interviewees, Prothman will report to the Council with information on the candidates.
By about two months from now, the Council and Prothman will have worked together to have picked out four or five key candidates. Once background Checks have been conducted on those individuals, a second interview will take place, along with a possible public reception, before the successful candidate is decided upon and announced.
Mr. Prothman states that he is keen to find someone who will be in the position for a long time, even offering to repeat the search process free of charge should the appointed individual leave the job within a year.
