What's Happening in Woodinville, WA…

Austin rock band heading to Woodinville

A band that formed in Austin, Texas, will be playing soon in Woodinville.

Austin is one of the hottest music cities in the United States, and it gave birth to Fastball in 1992. First calling themselves Magneto U.S.A., they renamed themselves Fastball when they signed to Hollywood Records.

Their career started slowly. Their 1996 debut album, “Make Your Mama Proud,” didn’t chart. However, they released “The Way,” a single from their next album “All the Pain Money Can Buy” before dropping the album. Within six months of the release, the album had earned a Platinum rating, and remained for a year on the Billboard 200 chart. “The Way” reached #1 on the Billboard Adult Alternative Songs chart, and “Out of My Head” reached #14 on the same list.

They have received numerous awards and nominations including two Grammys, both for “The Way.” The first nomination was for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal, and the second for Best Long Form Music Video for the promotional video they made for the song. The Austin Chronicle has given them five awards: 1995’s Best Pop Band, Band of the Year, Best Single/EP, Best Video, and 1998’s Album of the Year. A review of the band in concert says:

“. . . an evening of terrific power pop-rock.”

This award-winning band will be at the Chateau St. Michelle Winery in Woodinville on June 27. Using poster printing, organizers of events like this can create outstanding publicity for them.
