A special event is coming up in Vancouver that will make “scents” of spring.
Dennis’ 7 Dees Landscaping & Garden Centers (formerly Shorty’s) is the host of an upcoming event that will appeal to local gardeners. The center is the venue for a demonstration of how to prune roses, with the Fort Vancouver Rose Society.
The Society was formed in 1953, and is a member of the larger American Rose Society. The local group holds meetings and events throughout the year, including its popular Rose Auction, which is coming up in March.
The instructor for this and other classes at the gardening center is Nicole Forbes, who joined Dennis’ 7 Dees late in the 1990s, and has gained experience by working almost every position that exists in a retail garden center. However, she has found her passion as a teacher of gardening classes. She also enjoys hosting such annual events as the Tomato Tasting Festival. Forbes also helps train new employees, and writes the center’s blog, aiming to bring an energetic and fun approach to learning.
The demonstration is set for March 5 at Dennis’ 7 Dees on Mill Plain Boulevard, from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon. Organizers of this type of event can use flyer printing to create instruction sheet for attendees. The class is free, but participants are asked to register.
