An upcoming event in Vancouver features two days of heavy metal.
Although the event is referred to as Winterfest 2K26, it has nothing to do with candles, wreathes, and artisans with hand-crafted goods. Instead, Fightback is organizing two days of music featuring 17 metal bands.
Participants include Crucible of Absolution, a new deathcore outfit that has been playing gigs around the Pacific Northwest; and Anatoray, who first got together in 2015 and opened for acts like the Bullet Boys. They play classic metal from the 70s and 80s. Paradigm Shyft is a Portland, Oregon band that plays Alt-Metal mixed with some Thrash and a little Prog.
Tyraels Ascencion is a new band with members from Vancouver and Olympia; they play heavy metal and have already released their debut album “Hell Walker.” Wallcrawler frequently appears at venues in Kelso and Longview, and have released a self-titled digital album. Bloodscript plays classic death metal, and Damage OverDose, which formed in Warm Springs, Oregon, in 1997, plays death metal.
Other bands scheduled are hard pill, Drawn by Knives, Proven, Pitch Black Mass, and Within the Pyre.
Winterfest begins at 4.00 pm on January 23 and 24, and all ages are welcome. Anyone who comes dressed as a winter character of their choice will be admitted free. The fun is at Georgie’s Garage & Grill at 606 Broadway in downtown Vancouver. Events like this gain support from advertisements which organizers can supply using poster printing.
