An upcoming run/walk will help support community members in Vancouver.
The Vancouver Clinic is presenting the Girlfriends 20th anniversary run/walk, to support those who have been affected by breast cancer. Participants can choose from a 6K walk or run, a 10K, or a half-marathon. The run benefits the Pink Lemonade Project.
The race is designed by women for women to raise funds to improve breast cancer treatment and diagnosis. Participants can receive medals, women’s technical shirts (designed just for women), treats, massages, and firemen will be waiting at the finish line. The event is designed around women’s needs, but men are welcome to support the cause in other ways. They can become a Pink Brigade Guy and raise funds for the Pink Lemonade Project or join a corporate team.
The race begins at Waterfront Way in the new downtown Vancouver Waterfront Development and ends at the Indigo Hotel in the same area. The course is scenic and includes views of the Columbia River from the waterfront trail, as well as leading through Fort Vancouver. The run is mostly flat with some slight hills. It also splits at several points where people running the longer options will turn off, but guides will be on the course to help runners avoid confusion.
Girlfriends run is set for October 18 at 9.00 am. Participants are asked to arrive by 8.30 am. Organizers of events like this can use banner printing to create signage to guide runners.
