A grand opening has been scheduled for Vancouver Waterfront Park, a new public space that is adjacent to a new mixed-use development along the Columbia River. The park will comprise 7.3 acres.
The City of Vancouver, Gramor Development, and Columbia Waterfront LLC have created a public/private partnership to develop the site of a former Boise-Cascade mill. The 32-acre site will be home to housing units, a hotel, and space for restaurants, offices, and retailers. Developers of projects like this can work with a brochure printing company to create a pamphlet illustrating the development's amenities to potential tenants.
The new park's main feature is a 90-foot cable-stay pier that juts out above the Columbia River, basalt seating areas, a play area, an open lawn, urban beach, and a waterfront trail. The park was designed by Fisher Marantz Stone, an architectural lighting design company; Larry Kirkland, who designs public art; and PWL Partnership, which is a landscape architect.
The grand opening is scheduled from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on September 29 at the park, which stretches between Esther and Grant streets along Columbia Way. Everyone is invited, and the event is free. In addition to the ribbon cutting and guest speakers, there will be kids' activities, live entertainment, and more. The speakers are scheduled for 11:30 am, and the actual ribbon cutting will take place at the pier at 12:15 pm.
