A local park in Vancouver is reopening after the addition of a new playground.
The Chelsea Anderson Memorial Play Station is now part of the Marshall Community Park, and the city is celebrating. Harper’s Playground is the designer of the new play area, which is designed to be an inclusive facility where people of all skills and abilities can enjoy themselves. Some of the unusual equipment available at the new facility are a raised sand area, an integration carousel, and a wheelchair swing.
Harper’s Playground was founded by a group of people who felt traditional playgrounds were unattractive and limiting, and set out to develop facilities that are naturally inclusive. They are physically inviting, meaning the playgrounds are easy for everyone to use. They are also socially inviting, attractive spaces where community members can gather. Finally, they are emotionally inviting, representing a space where people can rest.
The ribbon-cutting will be a fun event with local officials, community leaders and families in attendance. The City of Vancouver is inviting everybody to join the celebration of the new playground and the power of play, the sturdiness of the Vancouver community, and the promise of inclusion.
The re-opening will take place on September 9 at 10.00 am. The park is at 1069 E. McLoughlin Boulevard. When ceremonies like this are planned, officials can work with banner printing companies to create appropriate signage.
