An upcoming event will give people a chance to learn about the importance of pollinators.
The Vancouver City Council recently cast a unanimous vote that officially made Vancouver a Bee City. This step is important, because it gives communities the tools they need to join together to save these vital pollinators. The new status dovetails nicely with the upcoming Pollinator Festival.
The day begins at 9.00 am with the unveiling of a “Bee City USA” sign at the Marshall Park Shelter. At 9.30 am, Bella Padgett and Steven Clark will be at Clark College Meadows to lead a Bee Walk and at 10.00 am, Jean Tesner-Kleiner will conduct a walk and talk at VITA Elementary School.
All day, people will be able to take self-guided tours at Marshall Park, where they can see a sensory garden, an arboretum pop-up courtesy of Urban Forestry, and more.
Hill Kent’s artwork will be on display from 10.00 am until 1.00 pm at the Art at the Arts Hub, and the VITA Elementary School will be the place to hear the event’s speakers, Michael O’Loughlin, Josehine Woolington, and OSU’s Andony Melathopoulos.
Dr. Robert Michael Pyle will give the keynote address titled “Pollinators, Plants, and People on the Edge of What’s Left.” The festival closes at 3.00 pm.
The fun is scheduled for June 21 at Marshall Park, VITA Elementary School, and Clark College which are close together. Banner printing is a good way to create Signs for outdoor events like this.
