Vancouver fishes for fun

Over a two-day period, Klineline Kids Fishing will be hosting a pair of 'Fishing Derby Events' in Vancouver.

The first is a Fishing Derby for kids between the ages of 5 and 14, and the second derby is designed for kids and adults with special needs.

For both events, participants will be able to fish in Klineline Pond. Attendees can also hang out in Salmon Creek Regional Park and enjoy free activities such as wood craft projects, archery, and art. Participants can also learn how to cast a fishing rod and tie flies. The special needs event will have a llama pet therapy area too.

Registration costs $5 and includes a T-shirt and fishing rod. Registration is available on the Klineline Kids Fishing website and can be completed online or mailed in. To have the fee waived, individuals may also ask for a registration ‘scholarship’.

Poster printing is often used to spread the word about local events. Large Signs could be hung around parks and community centers in Vancouver.

The Fishing Derby for children with special needs will take place on April 10, while the Kids’ Fishing Derby will take place on April 11. Both derbies will have 45-minute fishing periods from 8:00 am until 3:45 pm.

The events will take place at Salmon Creek Park, located on 1112 Northeast 117th Street. Since parking is limited, carpooling is recommended.
