An old-fashioned Christmas is on the way to the Vancouver suburb of Ridgefield.
Tony Starlight is bringing his Christmas show to the area, fashioning it after the type of holiday specials broadcast on television decades ago, featuring performers like Dean Martin and Bing Crosby headlining, with many special guests.
Starlight is based in Portland, Oregon, where he owns and operates The Tony Starlight Showroom. He writes much of his own music, and performs both his original compositions and classics made famous by other entertainers. He is also a comedian who writes his own material.
His impressions of entertainers include Cat Stevens, Elton John, Bob Seger, Tom Jones, Frank Sinatra, Axl Rose, and Dean Martin, but he specializes in Neil Diamond. He has written a number of themed shows based on pop culture, such as the James Bond 007 Experience.
For his holiday show, the performer will offer holiday standards, as well as performing favorites from classics like “Scrooge,” “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas,” and several of the animated specials produced by Rankin/Bass, such as “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.” Tony and his colleague Bo Ayers often perform characters' voices.
A Tony Starlight Christmas is set for Sunday, December 8, from 7:30 pm until 10:30 pm, at the Old Liberty Theater on North Main Avenue in Ridgefield, a short drive from Vancouver. Flyer printing can be used to create programs for events like this.
