Special celebration and dinner in Vancouver
An extra special event in Vancouver will honor a legendary poet.
The Northwest Wine & Food Society is presenting their annual Burns Supper, in honor of Robert Burns. The event is taking place on the birthday of the legendary Scottish poet, and will offer a three-course meal paired with traditional spirits. El Gaucho will provide the food and wines, which will be sourced from local vineyards, and the menu will be curated to blend flavors of the Pacific Northwest, with culinary influences from Scotland.
Entertainment featuring the poetry and music of Burns is planned, along with a silent auction featuring exclusive items donated by local chefs and wineries. The highlight will be a reading of Burns’s poem, “Address to a Haggis.” The haggis is a traditional Scottish dish made from the heart, stomach, or liver of cows or sheep. The meat chosen is mixed with suet, oatmeal, and onion, and then boiled in the stomach of the animal. In Burns’s poem, he refers to the dish as the:
The Burns Night Supper is scheduled for January 25, at 5.00 pm, at the stunning Edgewater Ballroom in the Hotel Indigo, located in the new Waterfront development in Vancouver.
