The cover band Notorious recreates the synth pop sound of DuranDuran, while Glass of Hearts brings back the New Wave style of Blondie. DuranDuran was one of the 1980s most successful bands, selling in excess of 100 million records worldwide.
Blondie was founded by Debbie Harry and her partner, Chris Stein, and became another successful band of the 1970s and 80s. Harry was the lead vocalist for the group at a time when having a female front any band was unusual. Blondie has sold approximately 40 million records including “Call Me,” the main title song of the film “American Gigolo.”
A review of a Notorious performance said they:
“set the tone” for what became an “explosive night of 80's retro.”
They performed some of DuranDuran's biggest hits, including “Hungry Like the Wolf.”
Glass of Hearts has performed in venues throughout the Portland area, including aboard the Portland Spirit Cruises, a local river cruise. One review of their rendition of “Call Me” said it featured “great playing,” and that lead singer Liz Ghiz moves just like Debbie Harry.
The bands appear at BillyBlues on Hazel Dell Avenue, from 9.00 pm until 11.59 pm on January 18. The concert is limited to those 21 and over, and admission is $10. Flyer printing can be used to create handouts for events like this.
