Port of Vancouver schedules budget workshop

The Board of Commissioners of the Port of Vancouver USA has scheduled a workshop at which it will discuss the preliminary 2019 budget for the port.

Open to the public, the meeting will see staff members from the port walk Don Orange, Jerry Oliver, and Eric LaBrant, the port commissioners, through the preliminary 2019 budget and answer any questions they may have. This year, staff will also present information explaining how the proposed budget address priorities described in the 2018 Strategic Plan, which was recently approved by the port.

Adopting the primary budget is the first step in creating the final Port of Vancouver budget for 2019, which is a public process. In November, the commission will consider the preliminary budget again at a regular meeting. Later in November, the commission is likely to vote on the 2019 budget in its final form, for which a public hearing is planned. Matters like this are complex, so officials might use brochure printing to create explanatory Booklets for residents.

The budget workshop is set for tomorrow, October 23rd, and will be held at the port’s administrative office on Lower River Road starting at 9:30 am. The first commission meeting in November is on the 13th, and the later meeting, where the budget is likely to be adopted, is set for the 27th. Full details about financial matters, and the meetings, are on the Port’s website.
