Plant a tree in Vancouver

An annual event is coming up that encourages people to help beautify their community.

Vancouver’s “Make a Difference Day” is held every year to encourage volunteers to get involved in making the city even more beautiful. The event is organized by the Watershed Alliance of Southwest Washington, and this year will be held on Burnt Bridge Creek. The creek runs east-west through the city, and is a popular hiking spot for many people.

People who want to help should dress appropriately for changeable weather, wear shoes with closed toes, and long pants. They are also asked to bring water and snacks for themselves, although gloves and tools will be provided. Everyone is welcome no matter their level of skill or experienced, but an adult must accompany any participant younger than 13 years of age.

To ensure everyone’s safety and health. Volunteers are asked to do a COVID self-screening, and if they have been exposed in the previous seven days, have a temperature above 100, or are not feeling well, please stay home and let organizers know.

Make a Difference Day this year is October 22, from 9.00 am until 12.00 pm. Volunteers are asked to park on NE 41st Circle, and follow the Signs to the work area, which is near 1806 NE 41st Circle in Vancouver. This area is at the western end of Burnt Bridge Creek, near the I-5 freeway. Signage for an event like this can be created by organizers using banner printing.
