New doughnut shop coming to Vancouver

The trendy Voodoo Doughnut chain will open up a store in Vancouver next month, looking to extend its popularity in the Portland area.

Voodoo, insistent on the “correct spelling” of doughnut, offers more than fifty different flavors of the familiar treat. Among its more colorful options are Oh Captain, My Captain (topped with Cap’n Crunch cereal), Chocolate Coconut Cake, and School Daze peanut butter and jelly. The shop provides vegan doughnuts and is known for creating custom items for special occasions and private catering. The Vancouver location aims to hire 50 to 70 staff in order to keep the store open until 10:00 pm on weekdays and midnight on weekends.

Voodoo Doughnut began with a Portland shop in 2003 and now operates a dozen locations, including branches in Texas, Colorado, and Florida. The addition marks a return to expansion within the Portland area, following up on a location in Milwaukie, Oregon in 2019. The Vancouver location will be taking over a former Chase Bank branch, looking to take advantage of its parking, visibility, and proximity to other fast food outlets. New restaurants and stores often use tools like banner printing and local media advertisements to call attention to their location.

The Vancouver Voodoo Doughnut store will open in November at 8209 Vancouver Mall Drive, at the western edge of the Vancouver Mall.
