Jazz and wine to make summer in Vancouver

Eating, drinking, and enjoying music will be the themes of an outing in Vancouver next month.

The Vancouver Wine & Jazz Festival is one of the city’s most popular events. The Oregonian says:

“This region may be rife with summer festivals, but few capture a finer spirit than the Vancouver Wine and Jazz Festival..."

It is three days of music, fine art, wine, and food, all in downtown Vancouver’s Esther Short Park. The centerpiece, of course, is the live music, and stars such as Grammy winner Diane Schuur and Jose Feliciano have appeared on this stage on previous occasions. This year, the lineup includes bands like the Bottleneck Blues Band, the Ne Plus Ultra Jazz Orchestra, and the Adriana Wagner Jazz Quartet.

Headliners include Tommy Castro & the Painkillers, Spyro Gyra, the Bonerama Brass Band, the Alison Brown Quartet, the Pascal Bokar Afro Blue Grazz Band, and The Blind Boys of Alabama.

If all the great jazz is not enough, there will be painters, sculptors, jewelers, and photographers exhibiting their art, which will be for sale. Naturally, there will be wines from California as well as Washington, along with craft beers. Food vendors are still being finalized, but last year brought everything from crab cakes to burgers to gyros.

The festival is August 25, 26, and 27. Decorative Banners work well at events like this, where they identify participating businesses. Organizers can create them using banner printing.
