Huge summer festival coming to Vancouver

One of the biggest parties of the year will take place in Vancouver in August.

The upcoming Arts & Music Festival covers three days, has more than 110 artists and over 40 performers participating, and is free. The events take place in Esther Short Park, and at other locations in downtown Vancouver. Visitors can enjoy chatting with local artists in Artists’ Alley, looking at and purchasing their work, have some delicious food, and enjoy live music.

One of the highlights of the festival is the planned concerts by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, one to be conducted by its Music Director, Maestro Salvador Brotons, and the other by Maestro Gerard Schwartz, who among other honors is the Conductor Laureate of the Seattle Symphony.

Other musical performers scheduled are cellist Zuill Bailey, and pianist Olga Kern. Dance performances by Vancouver Ballet Folklórico, Columbia Dance, the Polynesian dance studio Teva Oriata, and Sarada Kala Nilayam will take place.

In addition, there will be vendors with various kinds of ethnic foods, and a special Vancouver Farmers Market with an outstanding array of fresh foods.

The film “West Side Story” will be shown outdoors on Friday night, and Sunday night Gerard Schwartz will conduct a tribute to Leonard Bernstein.

The Vancouver Art & Music Festival takes place August 2, 3, and 4, Friday through Sunday. When events like this are planned and take place in numerous venues, organizations will often make use of flyer printing to create a handout for visitors including a schedule of events and map.
