A special presentation is coming up at the Kiggins Theatre in downtown Vancouver.
The Historic Music Preservation Project in conjunction with The Ne Plus Ultra Jass Orchestra will present a Holiday Spectacular at the theater. The Kiggins opened in 1936 and is a classic single-screen Art Deco-style house. The orchestra and their special guest, Marilyn T. Keller, will perform holiday classics as well as songs that may be new to the audience.
The classics will include “White Christmas,” “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” and “Winter Wonderland.” They are so well known that the audience will be invited to sing along. The performers also plan to include songs rarely heard now, such as “Christmas Night in Harlem,” “The Santa Claus Express,” and “Tick Town Town.”
Keller was inducted into the Jazz Society of Oregon Hall of Fame in 2016. She is a vocalist with more than 40 years’ experience singing the blues, jazz, and gospel. During her career, Keller has collaborated with such artists as the Augustana Jazz Quartet, Darrell Grant, Don Latarski, and others.
The Ne Plus Ultra Jass Orchestra is based in Vancouver and plays music from the 1920s and 1930s, especially the Depression era.
The show is set for December 14, from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Since the event is for only one night, tickets will go quickly. Events like these can be successfully promoted when organizers use poster printing to create striking advertising.
