As the weather warms, people start looking for outdoor activities to enjoy.
One upcoming event is a scheduled for Marshall Park, where participants will take a Guided Tree Walk. Beautiful trees of many species grow in Vancouver, but not everyone knows their characteristics, or how to tell which tree is which. Members of the Urban Forestry staff will be the guides showing event participants the unique trees that grow in this urban forest. The focus of the event will be on learning basic tree terminology, as well as how to identify the trees that are found in the park and throughout the region. Flyer printing can be used to create handouts for events like this.
The walk is family friendly, and suitable for participants of every age. The Parks and Recreation Department is still following state health guidelines and asks that participants maintain a distance from one another of at least six feet, and wear masks when it is not possible to maintain the distance. They are also asked to wash their hands before visiting the park, and after the visit as well.
The tree walk is set for June 22 at 5.30 pm. Marshall Park is on East McLoughlin and is home to the Marshall Community Center. There is limited capacity for events of this type due to the protocols associated with COVID-19. Interested parties are asked to RSVP for the walk and will receive emails with additional details.
