Extra walking tours scheduled in Vancouver

Spirit Tales, the popular walking tours that take visitors through the oldest neighborhood in Vancouver, are set to take place throughout October.

Last year, two tours were offered on Halloween, and they proved to be so popular they both sold out. This year, Spirit Tales are back, this time with six tours on various weekends.

The tours are led by Jeff Davis, an author and local historian. Davis will tell stories about Fort Vancouver, and the people who lived in Vancouver Barracks and Officers Row. Fort Vancouver comprises 366 acres, and offers a glimpse of early life in the area through stories of Native Americans, the British Hudson's Bay Company, and other organizations.

The first tour begins at 2:00 pm on October 16. The next tour is on Friday, October 21, at 7:00 pm, and the third is at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 23. On October 28, the tour is again at 7:00 p.m. The last two tours of the season are both on Saturday, October 29, one at 4:00 pm, and the second at 5:30 pm.

Tickets for the tours are $15 each, and hot refreshments are included. Tours last an hour, and cover a little under one mile. Participants should wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. It's not recommended that children under 11 go on the tours.

Efforts like these can benefit when organizers work with flyer printing companies, which can create suitable informative handouts for events.
