Volunteers needed for Vancouver cleanup

People who would like to get outside and make their community more beautiful at the same time have an event just for them.

The City of Vancouver has an opportunity for volunteers to help clean up the popular Burnt Bridge Creek Trail. The trail is one of the most-used public facilities in the city and totals approximately eight miles.

The trail, which is paved and well-kept, has several access points and is divided into three sections. Trail users can enjoy a trek through various landscapes, including forests, wetlands, and open grasslands. It is also possible to spot wildlife such as deer or coyotes, songbirds, and waterfowl from the trail. The eastern section offers wetlands and meadows, the middle is near soccer fields, and there are forests on the western section.

Next month, everyone has a chance to help improve this attraction by removing litter from the greenway. In order to maintain participants’ health, the event will follow CDC guidelines, including maintaining minimum social distancing, and wearing masks. In addition, volunteers must RSVP before the event, at which time they will receive an email confirming their participation. Volunteers should bring water bottles and their own masks, but hand sanitizer, litter Bags, and gloves will be provided.

The date of the clean-up is June 26, beginning at 9:30 am. Flyer printing can be used to create handouts for participants in events like this.
