Vancouver walk/run reaches milestone year

A special event to help animals has been organized in Vancouver.

The Humane Society for Southwest Washington is hosting the Walk/Run for the Animals, the 30th time the event has been held. Participants can choose whether to run or walk the event; the walk will be in-person, but the run is virtual.

Those who choose to walk will find a route winding through downtown Vancouver that leads to seven separate places they can visit. They are Heathen Brewing Feral Public House; Umpqua Bank; the Bleu Door Bakery; The Pie Hole; Northwest Personal Training; the Main Event Sports Grill; and WellHaven Pet Health. Participating businesses will have beverages, food, entertainment, and giveaways, and all are kid- and dog-friendly.

If participants choose the 5K run, they can run wherever they like, from a local park to their neighborhood. All they need do is keep track of their time and then send it in online via a form on the web or a text message.

The walk/run is set for May 1, from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm. Walkers can begin at 9:00 am if they wish or wait until later in the day. Businesses participating in the walk will close their booths at 3.00 pm. Runners have from April 26 until the end of May 1 to finish their virtual event. Poster printing can be used by businesses participating in events like this to identify themselves to participants.
