Opportunity to discover classes in Vancouver

Those who would like information about an educational opportunity should plan to attend an upcoming presentation by Clark College.

The college is presenting Running Start Information Nights in a virtual format. Interested parties can choose the best time to join to learn about Running Start, a program for high school seniors and juniors created by Washington State. Running Start allows young people in these grades to attend college classes, sometimes for free. Organizers of virtual presentations can use graphic design to create attractive backgrounds for the event.

High schoolers in the Running Start program can earn college credit while they are still in high school and living at home, thus allowing them to save money while they continue their education. Many may opt for taking only one class per quarter, while others may decide to take the courses on campus, where they will earn both college and high school credit.

Students in Running Start may select the courses that provide an academic challenge for them, and use applications that duplicate real-world situations. Running Start students may be able to earn an associate degree from the program, and go on to begin their career, or transfer to a four-year school to obtain their bachelor's degree.

There have already been several informational sessions about this topic. The next is set for March 10 at 6:00 pm. Sessions are open to prospective students and members of their families. The session is free, but registration is required.
