GO Fest in Vancouver

Vancouver residents have a chance to join fans around the world for a fun event based on a popular game.

The game is Pokémon, which were developed in Japan by Satoshi Tajiri, the founder of Game Freak, as role playing games. The games were released in 1996 on Game Boy, and Pokémon has developed into a media franchise comprising video games, trading cards, films, animated series, and more. The players in the game co-exist in a universe with odd creatures called Pokémon; there are now more than 1,000 Pokémon in existence.

At the upcoming event, participants will register and claim a Pokémon Event Passport, Sticker, and Pin, all of which are free. Once people have their passports, they will follow a specified route through downtown Vancouver where participating businesses will have Pokémon Stamps. There will be five Stamps in Uptown, five in Midtown, and five in Downtown. Players who managed to collect 12 of the 15 Stamps will receive a free shirt from the event, and be entered to win a Nintendo Switch.

Attendees will also have a chance to meet Falinxie, a cosplay star, and have pictures taken with Pikachu, Ash, and other Pokémon. Activity booths include a trading post, face painting, and more, plus vendors will be on hand with Pokémon-themed items.

GO Fest is the weekend of July 13 and 14, from 10.00 am until 6.00 pm each day. Organizers of events like this will often use flyer printing to create maps for participants.
