Fun run coming up near Vancouver

Runners will soon have a chance to get some exercise and support a good cause at the same time.

Why Racing Events is presenting the Santa's Posse 5K Walk/Run, which will be held in downtown Camas, which shares a border with Vancouver. The race is a festive, fun method of raising funds to benefit Santa’s Posse & Kindness 911. Organizers point out that this is a different event to the race in which the Clark County Sherriff’s Department teams up with Santa’s Posse of Clark County.

The members of this posse collect and hand out food and toys to make the holidays a little brighter for Clark County families in need. In 2021, Santa’s Posse provided some Christmas cheer to more than 3,400 children and 1,000 families in the community.

Kindness 911, a non-profit organization, helps connect law enforcement agencies in the local area with the communities they serve. The group recognizes those organizations and individuals who are making a positive, helpful impact on the community. Police, firefighters, and others are often nominated by community members for their acts of kindness.

The race starts at the Camas Public Library on 4th Avenue, at 9:00 am on December 17. The entry fee is $49 for adults, with a 50% discount for teens from 13 to 17, while children 12 and under can participate for free. Organizers of this type of event can help participants by using banner printing to create weatherproof course markers.
